Merian C. Cooper said he was very fond of strong, hard-sounding words that started with the letter “K”. He loved the name, as it had a “mystery sound” to it. The search party encounters dinosaurs, enormous bugs, vicious bats and, of course, a cranky monkey who comes to appreciate Ann as more than just a late-night snack. So Ann and Kong open a nice little bed-and-breakfast to give those uptight natives a place to unwind and play racquetball.

On the island, the group discovers a deserted village where human skeletons are hung from high poles. Later they come upon rows of skulls and piles of bones. Once in New York, King Kong rampages through the city, tossing cars, demolishing buildings and snatching planes from the sky while pilots repeatedly fire upon him.
A good stiff drink helps Carl subdue his nerves during the adventure. Dancing girls are shown performing in cleavage bearing outfits. Violent portrayals include the impaling of one man and the beheading of another by natives (some of whom are scantily dressed). Huge creatures attack the voyagers, eating some of them, crushing several and tossing others to their deaths.

Although I thought the film otherwise did not have good standards. For a start the end was much to fast-paced, and predictable. The audio was terrible, particularly at the start, when the men were talking on the boat.
(Pg. 185) There are two suicides in the novel, both are peaceful and told after the fact. So here we have a book that openly comments on race issues, even if they were issues decades ago between the ethnic groups in New York City (Italians, Jews, Blacks, Whites), and it has my thoughts racing. I don’t set out to offend anyone, I do not claim to be an expert on anything, but I do have more experience than a lot of people in that I have lived and worked among other cultures and ethnicities and even won an award for being a champion of diversity.
Giant ape goes ballistic and escorts girl to the top of New York’s tallest skyscraper. It’s a familiar love story that gets a few new twists—including a dose of tenderness—in Peter Jackson’s rollicking, three-hour extravaganza, King Kong. Sadly, this film was not as good as i thought it was going to be. A character, Carl Denham, a film director, is trying to film an animal, named Kong.
